<br />June 2025
<br />WHEREAS, Redwood City is a diverse and vibrant community enriched by generations of immigrants who have
<br />contributed to the social, cultural, and economic fabric of our city; and
<br />WHEREAS, National Immigrant Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the history, resilience, and
<br />countless contributions of immigrants and their families to our city, our state, and our nation; and
<br />WHEREAS, immigrants in Redwood City serve in every sector of our society as educators, business owners, health
<br />care workers, artists, public servants, and neighbors strengthening our city through their talents, values, and hard
<br />work; and
<br />WHEREAS, Redwood City affirms its commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive community, where people of
<br />all backgrounds are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their country of origin or immigration status; and
<br />WHEREAS, honoring immigrant heritage means acknowledging both the struggles and triumphs of those who have
<br />sought a better life here, and recommitting ourselves to equity, opportunity, and compassion for all;
<br />WHEREAS, Casa Circulo Cultural is a grassroots, community-based multidisciplinary art organization dedicated to
<br />creating bilingual arts, cultural, and educational programming reflective of the experiences of the San Francisco Bay
<br />Area Latino communities; and
<br />WHEREAS, for over 15 years, Casa Circulo has provided a wide range of programming in Redwood City, including
<br />Art in the Park from their mobile event center, after school programming and support for students from Taft and
<br />Garfield Schools, Dia de los Ninos, performing at Fiestas Patrias, hosting the Mobile Consulate from the Counsel
<br />General of Mexico, San Francisco, and their flagship event in downtown Redwood City — Dia de los Muertos — where
<br />Courthouse Square is transformed for thousands of visitors travel to Redwood City to celebrate and remember
<br />ancestors that have passed.; and
<br />WHEREAS, Casa Circulo, together with its dedicated volunteers and families from around the world, have
<br />contributed and made a profound and positive impact in Redwood City, underscoring the value of rich cultural
<br />diversity in our communities and nation.
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALLOS, MAYOR OF REDWOOD
<br />CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Redwood City, do hereby proclaim the month of
<br />June 2025 as National Immigrant Heritage Month in Redwood City and encourage all residents to celebrate
<br />immigrant ingenuity and perseverance that strengthens our city, and redefine what is possible to drive the country
<br />toward a more dynamic and inclusive future for all.
