From:Seth Gould
To:publiccomment
Subject:Public Comment: Anti-Camping Ordinance
Date:Monday, July 21, 2025 8:39:42 AM
You don't often get email from gould.seth@gmail.com. Learn why this is important
Hello,
I live in the Bair Island neighborhood and am requesting the city council adopt the San Mateo
County ordinance as it relates to the unhoused. Bair Island seems to be a neighborhood that
slips through the cracks vs the rest of the city.
Over the past 3 years, we have had at least 12 fires in our neighborhood. There have been 3
fires in the last few months. This is not sustainable. With only one way in and out of Bair
Island (and many times cars are being delivered to the dealerships on that road that makes it
more difficult to get through) we are living at risk. I ask that you designate Bair Island a
special fire risk zone allowing faster action to remove encampments.
Many families no longer feel safe in our neighborhood and utilizing the pedestrian underpass
under 101. This is not acceptable to a city that values walkability and safety. We see the
unhoused loitering in the walkway. We have also had the unhoused walking through our
complex taking packages (we have sent the police ring cam footage). Just yesterday, a
family had someone get into their house.
As a resident, I am deeply concerned for my family's safety. I really hope it does not take a
tragedy for the city to act.
Thank you,
Seth Gould
559-285-2553
