Staff
recommend using Sewer Fund reserves for Redwood City’s estimated $15.7M contribution toward capital
program costs over the next three years. SVCW costs for future years will be factored into the City’s sewer
rate setting process; Redwood City is responsible for funding approximately 48.57% of SVCW’s overall
costs. The City Council last adopted sewer rates in April 2024 for the period FY 2024-25 through FY 2026-
27. Rates for FY 2027-28 and beyond will consider any necessary funding requirements for the City’s sewer
system and the City’s share of SVCW’s CIP and operating costs. Staff expect to propose the next set of
rates to the City Council in late 2026 following review with the City Council’s Utilities Sub-Committee.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
None.
