ATTY/ORD .0009/CC ORD FIRE CODE ADOPTION <br />REV: 08-29-25 MI <br />Page 1 of 16 <br />ORDINANCE NO._____ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY REPEALING ARTICLE II (REDWOOD CITY FIRE CODE) OF <br />CHAPTER 12 (FIRE PREVENTION) OF THE REDWOOD CITY CODE <br />(EXCEPT SECTION 12.7.1) AND ADOPTING NEW ARTICLE II OF <br />CHAPTER 12 ADOPTING TITLE 24, PART 9 OF THE CALIFORNIA <br />CODE OF REGULATIONS, NAMELY THE 2025 CALIFORNIA FIRE <br />CODE TOGETHER WITH NON-BUILDING STANDARDS OF THE 2024 <br />INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE, CERTAIN AMENDMENTS, <br />EXCEPTIONS, MODIFICATIONS AND ADDITIONS THERETO <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 17922, 17958, 17958.5, 17958.7 and 18941.5 <br />of the California Health and Safety Code, the City may adopt amendments, modifications, <br />changes, and additions to the provisions of the 2025 California Building Standards Codes, <br />which are reasonably necessary to protect the health, welfare and safety of the citizens <br />of Redwood City because of local climatic, geological and topographical conditions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a resolution making findings with respect <br />to local climatic, geological, and topographical conditions relating to the amendments, <br />modifications, changes, and additions to the California Building Standards Codes for <br />which such findings are required; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Ordinance is exempt from environmental review, pursuant to the <br />California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) Pub. Res. Code sections 21000 et seq.) <br />and CEQA Guidelines Section 15378 because it is not a “project” that has any potential <br />for resulting in a direct physical change in the environment or a reasonably foreseeable <br />indirect change since it is an administrative activity that does not authorize any <br />construction, and pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15061(b)(3) because it can be <br />seen with certainty that approval will not result in an environmental impact; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City is the decision-making <br />body for this Ordinance. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Article II of Chapter 12 of the Redwood City Code is hereby repealed <br />and deleted except Section 12.7.1. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. A new Article II of Chapter 12 of the Redwood City Fire Code is hereby <br />adopted to read as follows.
