lor <br />VrOdaMatiOU <br />Recognizing California's International Day of Service <br />to End Domestic & Sexual Violence <br />WHEREAS, the General Veclrration of Women's Clubs (GFWC) is a 135 -year-old international <br />federation of women's clubs wilh more than 60,000 members and is dedicated to community <br />improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service; and <br />WHEREAS, domestic and sexual violence includes but is not limited to verbal, physical, emotional, <br />mental, and sexual abuse; and <br />WHEREAS, GFWC focus areas are diverse and include campus sexual assault, child abuse, elder <br />abuse, human trafficking, intimate partner violence, military sexual assault, teen dating violence, and <br />violence against Native American women; and <br />WHEREAS, GFWC National Day of Service, September 27, 2025, is a day in which all of GFWC <br />comes together in service to combat domestic and sexual violence; and <br />WHEREAS, GFWC Peninsula Hills Woman's Club is an active GFWC California member of the <br />General Federation of Women's Clubs; and <br />WHEREAS, GFWC Peninsula Hills Women's Club collaborates with local and county agencies <br />supporting victims of domestic and sexual violence, including CORA, by commemorating September <br />27, 2025 as GFWC's International Day of Service; and <br />WHEREAS, GFWC California has partnered with domestic & sexual violence organizations <br />throughout Redwood City and California to support local shellers for victims of domestic and sexual <br />abuse. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALL OS, MAYOR OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Redwood City, do hereby <br />recognize Saturday, September 27, 2025 "GFWC California's International Day of Service to End <br />Domestic and Sexual Violence'; in the City of Redwood City and urge all residents to take part in <br />service activities, education campaigns, and community efforts to support survivors and end violence <br />in all its forms. <br />7- <br />Date: September 27, 2025 � <br />Elmer Martinez Saballos, Mayor <br />Kaia EE�ayykiir, Vice Maya• <br />Isabella Chet, Council Member <br />Jef%Qee, Council Member <br />Diane Howard, CamcilMember <br />Marcella Padilla, Council Member <br />Chris Sturken, Council Member <br />
