Library Board <br />Priority List <br /> <br />The Library Board has identified the following priorities to focus on during 2024-2025 and 2025-2027: <br /> <br />1. <br />Support Library Initiatives <br />• Encourage and support Library staff in the implementation of Library Service Priorities of Belonging, Growth, and Wellness <br />• Receive periodic progress reports on Service Priorities implementation <br />• Provide “Library Board Picks” reading recommendations for physical displays and online book lists <br />• Support Library initiatives through volunteer work <br />• Make recommendations to Library Director to increase accessibility of facilities, library services, and online information for historically <br />marginalized populations <br />• Participate in Library programs and events at least two times per year to gain firsthand experience as library patrons <br />• Provide feedback on Library budget proposals <br />2. <br />Foster Community Connections <br />• Support Library by soliciting and sharing community feedback on Library programs and services <br />• Solicit feedback from and share information about the Library with other City Boards, Commissions, and Committees* <br />• Facilitate communication among Library support groups, and promote fundraising efforts of these groups** <br />• Continue meeting at each branch at least once per year <br />• Attend community meetings and events on behalf of the Library Board <br /> <br />* Including Arts Commission, Housing and Human Concerns Committee, Senior Affairs Committee, and Youth and Teen Advisory Boards <br /> <br />** Including Redwood City Library Foundation, Friends of the Redwood City Public Library, and Redwood City Friends of Literacy <br />3. <br />Promote Library Services to the Public (personal and professional networks) <br />Promote participation in signature events such as the Summer Learning Challenge, Redwood City Library Foundation’s Annual Pub <br />Crawl, RCPL CARES equity programming, and others <br />• Promote Library programs and services that support the Library Service Priorities of Belonging, Growth, and Wellness <br />• Educate community members about volunteer engagement opportunities at the Library <br />• Educate community members about ways to financially contribute to the Library <br />• Participate in the Library’s community outreach tabling efforts at events (e.g. Farmer’s Market, Music in the Park, etc.) <br />8.A. - Page 17 of 18 <br />56
