Redwood City Stormwater Roadmap <br />Current City Practices <br />September 2025 3-1 Schaaf & Wheeler <br />3 Current City Practices <br />3.1 Current City Stormwater Projects <br />Redwood City is actively implementing and planning a range of stormwater infrastructure projects <br />supported by local, state, and federal funding. These initiatives address aging infrastructure, <br />regulatory compliance, flood risk reduction, and water quality improvements. The following <br />summarizes major projects underway or planned as of Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 – 26: <br />3.1.1 Pump Station Improvements <br /> Bradford Stormwater Pump Station Rehabilitation: This multi-phase project improves the <br />reliability of one of Redwood City’s primary pump stations. The design was funded by <br />FEMA and the City’s Capital Outlay Fund and was completed in FY 2022 – 23. It is <br />currently under FEMA’s review. The City is anticipating grant funding from FEMA for the <br />construction phase of the project. <br /> <br /> Price Stormwater Pump Station Rehabilitation: This rehabilitation project will enhance <br />pump station performance, safety, and long-term service life. Design was funded by FEMA <br />and the City’s Capital Outlay Fund. Design began in FY 2023 – 24 and continues through <br />FY 2025 – 26. <br /> <br />3.1.2 Flood Protection and Sea Level Rise Resilience <br /> Redwood Shores Sea Level Rise Protection Project: This long-term levee improvement <br />project is in early planning stages and aims to enhance shoreline protection for the <br />Redwood Shores community. <br /> <br /> Redwood Creek Watershed and Wetland Capacity Scoping Project: A planning initiative <br />focused on evaluating watershed-scale flood capacity, creek resilience, and opportunities <br />for integrating wetland systems along the Redwood Creek corridor. <br /> <br /> Redwood Creek and Channels: The FY 2025 – 26 budget allocates $980,770 for upgrades <br />to storm drain infrastructure within the Redwood Creek channel system, targeting specific <br />areas of structural failure. <br /> <br /> Bayfront Canal and Cordilleras Creek Annual Maintenance: Annual maintenance activities <br />totaling $150,000 focus on sediment and debris removal to maintain flow conveyance in <br />these tidal-adjacent drainage systems. <br />3.1.3 Green Infrastructure and Water Quality <br /> Red Morton Stormwater Capture Project: This planned green infrastructure project at Red <br />Morton Community Park will treat runoff and promote infiltration. The project will help the <br />City meet stormwater quality requirements under the Municipal Regional Stormwater <br />Permit. Design will be completed in FY 2025 – 26. <br /> <br /> Municipal Regional Stormwater Permit (MRP) Compliance: The City has budgeted <br />$325,000 in FY 2025 – 26 to implement trash capture systems, treatment facilities, and <br />other best management practices (BMPs) to maintain compliance with the MRP 3.0 issued <br />by the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board. <br />11.A. - Page 15 of 53 <br />446
