Redwood City Stormwater Roadmap <br />Appendix B: Data Gaps <br />September 2025 A-14 Schaaf & Wheeler <br />B.1.4 Pump Stations – High Priority <br />The City maintains a detailed pump station inventory, though the most recent master plan, the <br />Eastern Low-Lying Area Drainage Master Plan (Wood Rodgers, 2017), evaluated only a subset <br />of stations within the low-lying areas of the Redwood Creek watershed. All pump stations should <br />be considered and studied as part of the forthcoming Stormwater Master Plan. <br />B.1.5 Channels – Moderate Priority <br />Channel cross-section data is limited. Using traditional surveying techniques or drone/ground <br />based LiDAR for City’s open channels and creeks is recommended to support accurate <br />hydraulic modeling and capacity evaluations for the Stormwater Master Plan. <br />B.1.6 Levees/Floodwalls – High Priority <br />Sea-Level Rise Vulnerability and Adaptation Planning Study (ESA, 2024) should be reviewed <br />and utilized to determine levee and flood wall protection recommendations for the near-term <br />Stormwater Master Plan. Ongoing inspection of existing levees and floodwalls within Redwood <br />City should be evaluated for both reliability and height. Geotechnical analyses and surveys can <br />confirm if levees meet FEMA criteria for the Stormwater Master Plan. <br />B.1.7 Structures – Moderate Priority <br />While bridge inspection data is available, detailed structural dimensions for bridges over open <br />channels and creeks are lacking. Surveying these structures is recommended to enable <br />hydraulic analysis, particularly for HEC-RAS modeling to provide accuracy for the Stormwater <br />Master Plan. <br />B.1.8 Green Infrastructure – Low Priority <br />The City has noted the database has been updated to include all completed projects as of 2025. <br />It is recommended that the City update the database on a regular and ongoing basis to support <br />ongoing stormwater attenuation analysis in the Stormwater Master Plan. <br />B.1.9 Sea-Level Rise – Moderate Priority <br />Publicly available sea-level rise data from NOAA and recent regional studies are sufficient for <br />planning-level analysis. However, site-specific groundwater data is currently unavailable. Given <br />its variability and impact on future flooding conditions, groundwater monitoring is recommended <br />to support sea-level rise adaptation planning and analysis in the Stormwater Master Plan. <br />11.A. - Page 53 of 53 <br />484
