Many residents are still recovering from economic challenges,
and an increase in essential utility costs places additional financial strain on families, seniors, and fixed-
income households.
Additionally, I believe more transparency is needed regarding how the proposed funds will be allocated,
what alternative cost-saving measures have been considered, and what steps the City is taking to
promote long-term water conservation and efficiency before increasing rates.
I respectfully request that the City re-evaluate this proposal and consider more equitable and phased
approaches that take into account residents’ financial capacity.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Brigitte van Essen
