Learn why this is <br />important <br />Dear council members, <br />We are writing you in protest to the proposed solid waste rate increases. <br /> <br />Specifically: <br />1) we object to another rate increase when Redwood City is already one of the most <br />expensive for 32, 60-65 and 96 gallon waste. It is unreasonable that similar cities such <br />as San Carlos, Menlo Park and San Mateo manage to offer rates well below what <br />Redwood City already charges to say nothing of the planned $6 increase. <br />2) We object to the rate increase being the same dollar value for all properties <br />irrespective of the cart size as this poses undue burden on different households <br />irrespective of their contribution to our city’s solid waste. <br />3) The proposed rate increase of $6 for 96 gallon containers is an almost 6% increase <br />which, when factored for when the last increase occurred, appears to be greater than <br />the rate of change in input costs. <br />4) The proposal lacks factual support for the assertions about why a rate increase is
