33 <br /> <br />SMALL BICYCLE ROOM <br />General requirements for bicycle rooms apply to small, medium, and large bike rooms: <br />• Recommended separate access to outside <br />• Access aisle must have a minimum of 6” clearance <br />• At least 50% of the total parking spaces should be on -ground with at least 5% of those <br />should be extra wide spaces <br />• No more than 50% of bicycle parking space shall be high-density and 50% shall be on- <br />ground bicycle parking with 10% reserved as extra-wide spaces <br />• Extra-wide spaces shall have a clearance area of 6’8” X 10’ <br />• Regular on-ground spaces shall be 3’ from the clearance area of extra-wide on-ground <br />spaces <br />• Regular on-ground spaces shall have a minimum of 3’ wall clearance and 4’ of space <br />between other adjacent regular on-ground bicycle parking spaces <br />• Regular on-ground racks can be angled to accommodate more bicycle parking spaces <br />• The minimum depth of the bicycle parking area in the bicycle room shall be no less than <br />6, therefore high-density bicycle parking shall be perpendicular to the wall, and extra-wide <br />space can be parallel to the wall <br />• The minimum width for the access point into the bicycle room shall be no less than 3’ <br />wide <br />• Bicycle room configurations will depend on available space and bicycle parking <br />requirement <br />• See example in Figure 33: Sample Layout for Small Bicycle Room and Figure 34: Sample <br />Layout for Large Bicycle Room <br />7.A. - Page 105 of 121 <br />111
