Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: December 8, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Compensation adjustment for the City Attorney, and amendments to the City Attorney's Employment <br />Agreement and the City's Classification and Wage and Salary Plan to update the salary range to <br />incorporate the compensation adjustment for the City Attorney <br />SUMMARY <br />The annual performance evaluation for the City Attorney was completed in August 2025. Requested <br />changes to compensation were discussed by the City Attorney Compensation Ad Hoc Committee on <br />October 22, 2025. The Ad Hoc Committee recommends a 3% merit increase, effective on the City <br />Attorney’s anniversary date (September 6, 2025), and a one-time bonus of $15,000 in recognition of <br />exceptional performance. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution awarding a bonus of $15,000 for exceptional performance, approving and authorizing <br />the Mayor to execute the seventh amendment to the Employment Agreement for the City Attorney to <br />provide for adjustment to salary, and amending the City's Classification and Wage and Salary Plan to <br />update the salary range to incorporate the salary adjustment for the City Attorney. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City strives to maintain a compensation structure that provides salaries and benefits that are <br />competitive within the labor market to attract and retain highly qualified employees.
