These standards are periodically revised to conform to current codes, regulations, and <br />best practices, and to accommodate technology changes. This year’s updates align with industry <br />guidelines and generally accepted engineering practices and will have insignificant time and cost impact <br />on most development and public works projects. This update also includes a new section for bicycle <br />parking guidelines that will be the City standards for new or retrofitted short-term and long-term bicycle <br />parking for development projects and City facilities. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution approving and adopting revisions to the Engineering Standards for the City of <br />Redwood City. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />Redwood City Municipal Code Chapter 29 (Streets, Sidewalks and Work in or Use of Right of Way) requires <br />that certain infrastructure improvements be constructed to standards approved by the City Council. These <br />Engineering Standards provide direction to engineers, contractors, and developers regarding minimum <br />requirements for designing and constructing public right-of-way and private street improvements.
