proclamation <br />Palestine Cultural Day <br />October 18, 2025 <br />WHEREAS, Palestine Cultural Day is a special occasion dedicated to celebrating the <br />contributions and culture of Palestinian Americans throughout our community, fostering a sense <br />of joy, belonging, and empowerment for Palestinian people everywhere; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City celebrates and values the rich cultural diversity that <br />strengthens our community, and acknowledges the many contributions of residents of Palestinian <br />heritage who help shape the social, cultural, and economic, fabric of our city; and <br />WHEREAS, Palestinian Americans have long shared their traditions, arts, cuisine, and history <br />with the broader community, fostering greater cultural understanding and enriching the <br />multicultural character of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, Palestine Day provides an opportunity to honor the history, heritage, and resilience <br />of the Palestinian people, and to create space for cultural expression, community dialogue, and <br />educational activities that promote mutual respect; and <br />WHEREAS, the Palestinian American Coalition, a remarkable organization that serves the San <br />Francisco Bay Area, has shown an unwavering commitment to the education, support, and <br />development of children and families, providing a nurturing environment that encourages <br />creativity, collaboration, and cultural pride; and <br />WHEREAS, on October 18, 2025 the Palestinian American Coalition hosted its 461h Annual <br />Palestine Day in Redwood City, where thousands came together to celebrate Palestinian culture, <br />heritage, and unity; and <br />WHEREAS, recognizing Palestine Day affirms Redwood City's commitment to inclusivity, <br />dignity, and resped.for all communities, reflecting our values of belonging, diversity, and civic <br />unity. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALLOS, <br />MAYOR OF REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of <br />Redwood City, do hereby recognize October 18, 2025 as Palestine Cultural Day, a day of <br />celebration, appreciation, and recognition of the invaluable contributions Palestinians bring to <br />the City of Redwood City.
