Proclamation <br />Honoring the Redwood Symphony's 40th Anniversary <br />and Celebrating Maestro Eric Ki(jawsky <br />WHEREAS, 2025 marks the 40" anniversary of the Redwood Symphony, an all -volunteer <br />orchestra dedicated to the performance ofambitious, contemporary collection, as well as the great <br />orchestral classics founded in 1985 by Maestro Eric Kujawsky, whose vision was to create an <br />ensemble committed to artistic excellence, innovation, and accessibility; and <br />WHEREAS, under the extraordinary leadeishi of Maestro Kujawsky who has served as the <br />Symphony's Mucic Director and Conductoj for our decades, the Redwood Symphony has grown <br />into one of the most dynamic and adventurous orchesh as on the Peninsula, kno'Aln for its bold <br />repertoire, community engagement, and commitment to nurturing local talent; and <br />WHEREAS, the Redwood Symphony rehearses and performs seven concerts annually at Canada <br />College, where it has been the, orchestra in residence for at least 25 years, providing high-quality <br />music and educational value to students, families, and community members; and <br />WHEREAS, the orchestra further enriches the cultural fabric of Redwood City through its annual <br />summer performance on the Courthouse steps, a beloved tradition that brings free live orchestral <br />music to residents of all ages; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to Cahada College, the Redwood Symphony has performed at notable <br />venues including the Fox Theatre and the San Mateo Performing Arts Center, expanding its reach <br />and impact throughout the Bay Area; and <br />WHEREAS, the Symphony's continued success has been supported in part by the Redwood City <br />Arts Commission, rejl sting the City's commitment to fostering a vibrant arts community, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City wishes to recognize Maestro Eric Kujawsky for his 40 years <br />of exceptional leadership, artistic excellence, and unwavering dedication to the Redwood <br />Symphony and to the cultural vitality of our region. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALLOS, <br />MAYOR OF REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of <br />Redwood City, do hereby recognize 2025 as the Redwood Symphony's 40th Anniversary Year and <br />extend heartfelt appreciation to Maestro Eric Kujawsky for his extraordinary service, his vision, <br />and his enduring contributions to the arts in our community. <br />Date: November 22, 2025 <br />Elmer Martinez Saballos, M*,or <br />.f.. <br />KaiaEa kin, ViceMauor <br />A'�1240 <br />Isabella Chu, Council Member <br />Jeg'Qee, Council Member <br />Diane Howard, Council Member <br />Marcella Padilla, Council Member <br />{ <br />Chris Shaken, Council Umber <br />
