No changes to
the existing tax structure are proposed.
In addition, on December 22, 2025, the City Council inquired about the City’s ability to collect TOT for
short-term rentals and the alignment of the City’s processes. Staff is working to centralize all TOT
collection activities and anticipates having this in place by the end of FY 2025–2026.
EQUITY IMPACT STATEMENT
All City actions are assessed for impact. Because this item is on the consent calendar, this section indicates
assessment process, not findings. The anticipated impact of this policy, program, or action has been
assessed in the following ways:
Reviewed from similar or relevant past program or policy in Redwood City
FISCAL IMPACT
The proposed amendment to Chapter 32, Article IV, Section 32.87 (Records to be Kept for a Period of
Three Years) of the Redwood City Municipal Code is expected to result in increased revenues to the
General Fund as the City will have more leverage to compel audit compliance on delinquent accounts.
That said, the exact impact cannot be quantified at this time.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
Do not adopt the proposed amendment to Chapter 32, Article IV, Section 32.87 (Records to be Kept for a
Period of Three Years) of the Redwood City Municipal Code.
7.B. - Page 3 of 6
180
