City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
STAFF REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
DATE: January 12, 2026
SUBJECT
Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission Work Plan for Fiscal Years 2025-2026 and
2026-2027
SUMMARY
The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS) Commission Work Plan for FY 2025–2026 and FY
2026–2027 outlines the Commission’s advisory role to the City Council and establishes a focused, equity-
driven framework to guide its work over the two-year period. Grounded in the Commission’s mission to
enrich the lives of those who live, work, and play in Redwood City, the plan prioritizes three key goals
aligned with City Council priorities around equity and children and youth: enhancing park amenity equity
and sustainability practices, increasing community engagement activities, and improving field allocation
for youth and community equity. The work plan identifies clear benefits, timelines, resources, and
measurable outcomes for each goal, emphasizing data-informed decision-making, inclusive outreach,
transparency, and collaboration with community stakeholders. Collectively, the plan serves as both a
strategic roadmap and accountability tool to ensure equitable access to parks, programs, and facilities
while strengthening community trust and participation.
Does the City Council have any questions regarding the proposed PRCS Commission Work Plan for
FY 2025 – 2027?
Does the City Council support the priorities included in the FY 2025-2026 and FY 2026-2027 PRCS
Work Plan?
RECOMMENDATION
By motion, approve the proposed Parks and Recreation Commission Work Plan for Fiscal Years 2025-2026
and 2026-2027.
8.A. - Page 1 of 14
195
