Commission Work Plan Guidelines Work Plan Worksheet Step 1Review purpose of Commission as defined by Charter/OrdinanceAct in an advisory capacity to the City Council in policy matters pertaining to the acquisition and development of parks and the formulation of a recreation program to meet the needs of the citizens;Periodically review and make recommendations on the recreation and parks element of the City General Plan; Actively promote recreation and park activities within the City; Review and make recommendations to the City Council on the City Manager's annual proposed budget for recreation and parks from a pure policy standpoint, pertaining only to programs, levels of service, and capital improvements.Step 2 Develop or review a Mission Statement that reflects that purposeWho we are, what we do, who we do it for, and why we do itThrough community outreach and engagement, the PRCS Commission advocates, advises, and recommends policies and programs to the City Council that enrich the lives of those that live, work, and play in Redwood City. Step 3 Discuss any priorities already established bythe City Council as they relate to your respective BCCEach goal in the commission’s current work plan touchesontwo council priorities: Equity, Children & YouthGoal #1: Enhance Park Amenity Equity and Sustainability Practices will have the commission apply equity-focused audits to guide park investments that improve safety, shade, and amenities where need is greatest. Goal #2: Increase Community Engagement Activities extends commission outreach to neighborhoods and allows commissioners to gather feedback at public events to better gauge community needs as they relate to parks, recreation and community services.
