<br />ATTY/RESO.0001/CC RESO APPROVING AN EXCEPTION TO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES’ PENSION REFORM ACT (EXTRA HELP DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF) <br />REV: 01-15-26 MI <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />WHEREAS, the compensation paid to retirees cannot be less than the minimum <br />nor exceed the maximum monthly base salary paid to other employees performing <br />comparable duties, divided by 173.33 to equal the hourly rate; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the maximum monthly base salary for this position is $26,380.97 and <br />the hourly equivalent is $152.20, the minimum monthly base salary for this position is <br />$22,557.56 and the hourly equivalent is $130.14; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the hourly rate paid to Gregory DaCunha will be $152.20; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Gregory DaCunha has not and will not receive any other benefit, <br /> <br />incentive, compensation in lieu of benefit or other form of compensation in addition <br />to this hourly pay rate. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby <br />incorporated by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br /> <br />2. The City Council of the City of Redwood City hereby certifies the nature of <br />the employment of Gregory DaCunha as described herein and detailed in the attached <br />employment agreement and that this appointment is necessary to fill the critically needed <br />position of Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Redwood City by January 27, 2026, because <br />the Redwood City Fire Department is in a period of leadership transition and the Deputy <br />Fire Chief is a critical executive-level position responsible for managing department <br />operations and ensuring the City’s overall emergency response readiness. <br /> <br />3.
