1 <br />PROPOSED <br />NEW JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />POLICE OFFICER III <br /> <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under general supervision, to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work; <br />to control traffic flow and enforce State and local traffic regulations; to perform <br />investigative work; and to do related work as required. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Patrol Officer <br /> <br />Patrols assigned area in radio car, on motorcycle or on foot. <br /> <br />Answers calls for the protection of life and property, and the enforcement of city, <br />county and State laws. <br /> <br />Stops drivers operating vehicles in violation of laws. <br /> <br />Warns drivers against unlawful practices and issues citations. <br /> <br />Observes assigned area for suspicious acts and unsafe conditions. <br /> <br />Conducts preliminary investigations at scenes of accidents and crimes. <br /> <br />Regulates vehicle flow at times of emergency or congestion. <br /> <br />Gives information and directions to the public. <br /> <br />Serves warrants and subpoenas. <br /> <br />Administers first aid. <br /> <br />Prepares reports of arrests made, investigations conducted, and unusual incidents <br />observed. <br /> <br />Performs security checks of buildings. <br /> <br />Testifies in court. <br /> <br />Performs court liaison duties. <br />ATTY/RESO.0008/CC RESO AMENDING CLASSIFICATION AND WAGE AND SALARY PLAN (SEIU, RCMEA, RCPOA, RCPSA) - EXHIBIT A-B <br />REV: 03-03-26 MI <br /> <br />Page 12 of 54
