PROPOSED <br />NEW JOB DESCRIPTION <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />PROJECT READ AIDE <br />DEFINITION <br />Under direct supervision, perform a wide variety of general clerical duties, supporting a <br />volunteer-based English-Literacy Tutoring Program for learners and tutors in the Project <br />READ program. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />This is an entry level classification in the Project READ series. The class is <br />distinguished from the Project READ Assistant by the performance of more general and <br />routine duties. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Receives immediate supervision from the Library Division manager or other library <br />management personnel. May receive direction from Project READ Assistants and <br />Student Tutor Coordinators. <br />May provide direction to volunteers. <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br />Assist, call and greet learners, tutors, volunteers and walk-in customers; return calls, <br />confirm tutoring sessions, and send reminders (email, text or phone call) for tutor <br />training sessions. <br />Perform a wide variety of clerical work including but not limited to data entry, tracking <br />and monitoring sign-ups, updating contact information, managing mailings, tracking <br />attendance, making photocopies and filing, mail collection and distribution. <br />Set up for small group activities, workshops and special events; pack supplies and <br />materials and conduct inventory checks before and after events.
