GENERAL DEMOGRAPHIC AND HOUSING CHARACTERISTICS <br />As of 2022, Redwood City has a population of approximately 81,000 people within 19.3 square- <br />miles. There are approximately 30,000 households with an average of 2.6 persons per household. <br />In 2022, there were approximately 32,000 housing units and a 94% occupancy rate. Fifty-four <br />percent of the housing units are renter occupied. <br />In 2022, there were 2.35 times more White (Non-Hispanic) residents (32,000 people) in Redwood <br />City than any other race or ethnicity. There were 14,000 Other (Hispanic) and 14,000 Asian (Non- <br />Hispanic) residents, the second and third most common ethnic groups. <br />From 2021 to 2022, employment in Redwood City, CA declined at a rate of 2.62%, from 46,000 <br />employees to 45,000 employees. The most common employment sectors for those who live in <br />Redwood City include Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (7,482 people), Educational <br />Services (4,672 people), and Health Care & Social Assistance (4,410 people). <br />II.ASSESSMENT OF RELOCATION NEEDS <br />To obtain information necessary for the preparation of this Plan, OPC received information from <br />the Developer on the two residential tenants and the storage facility tenants. The data in this section <br />of the Plan are based on the information provided by the Developer and the Seller, although, at <br />this time, the information is unconfirmed. <br />The residential tenants will be interviewed once Project funding has been secured and closer to the <br />time of displacement. <br />Inquiries made of the residential occupants will include household size and composition, income, <br />monthly rent and estimated utility costs, length of occupancy, ethnicity, home language, physical <br />disabilities, relocation needs, and replacement housing preferences.
