ATTY/RESO.0009/CC RESO REAFFIRMING CITY CIVIL LIBERTIES <br />REV: 03-30-26 VR <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br />reaffirms Redwood City’s commitment to being a welcoming, inclusive, and safe <br />community where all people are treated with dignity and respect. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Redwood City will continue to ensure that all <br />community members have access to City services and programs consistent with <br />applicable federal and state laws and the City’s mission of ”building a welcoming <br />Redwood City through collaboration, responsiveness, and excellence.” <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br />reaffirms its commitments to social justice; valuing diversity; pursuing equity through <br />policies, processes, resource allocation, service provision, democratic governance and <br />empowering culture; promoting dignity for all and welcoming all people to play a role in <br />the political, economic, and social life of our community; and utilizing the <br />following approaches to cultivate more equitable outcomes: thoughtful and intentional <br />engagement of impacted communities in public decisions that impact their lives, analyses <br />of existing community and partner strengths to build on, building diverse and <br />representative decision-making bodies, data-driven decision-making that ensures <br />disaggregation of data and impacts where possible, prioritization of equity within and <br />across efforts, and accountability to all stakeholders, particularly our historically <br />marginalized communities. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, consistent with the Constitution of the United <br />States and the values that have long guided this community and this nation, the City <br />Council of the City of Redwood City affirms that civil liberties, dignity, and equal justice <br />under the law apply to all people and that the strength of our community is rooted in <br />welcoming diverse members and ensuring that every person has the opportunity to live, <br />work, and participate fully in the civic life of Redwood City. <br /> <br />BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redwood City calls <br />upon all members of the community to continue working together—across cultures, <br />backgrounds, and experiences—to uphold the principles of dignity, civil liberties, and <br />mutual respect that define Redwood City and strengthen our shared future. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />* * *
