Page 1 of 5 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: April 13, 2026 <br />SUBJECT <br />Approval of a Purchase Agreement with Metro Mobile Communications for the replacement of Redwood <br />City Police Department portable and mobile radios utilizing the NASPO ValuePoint Cooperative Purchasing <br />Agreement, in an amount not to exceed $625,000 <br />SUMMARY <br />Approval of this item will authorize the City Manager to execute a purchase agreement with Metro Mobile <br />Communications for the replacement of the Redwood City Police Department’s portable and mobile radio <br />fleet through the National Association of State Procurement Officials (“NASPO”) ValuePoint cooperative <br />purchasing agreement, in an amount not to exceed $625,000. The existing radio equipment has far <br />exceeded its recommended service life, is no longer supported by manufacturers, and presents increasing <br />operational and officer safety risks due to reliability issues and lack of replacement parts. <br />This project will replace 150 portable radios and 75 mobile radios with modern, standardized equipment <br />that meets current public safety, interoperability, and reliability standards, ensuring effective <br />communication during daily operations and critical incidents. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve a Purchase Agreement with Metro Mobile Communications for the replacement of the Redwood <br />City Police Department’s portable and mobile radio fleet utilizing the National Association of State <br />Procurement Officials (NASPO) ValuePoint Cooperative Purchasing Agreement, in an amount not to <br />exceed $625,000. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />7.F. - Page 1 of 52 <br />210
