P a g e | 4Redwood City Police Department <br />2025 <br />Annual Military Equipment Use Report <br />Equipment Overview <br />The Redwood City Police Department does not own any equipment received from any branch of the <br />military or Department of Defense and does not participate in the Law Enforcement Support Officer <br />(LESO) 10-33 program. The term “military equipment,” as used in the statute, in fact does not necessarily <br />indicate equipment that has been commonly used by the military or was necessarily designed for a <br />military purpose. Pursuant to 7070(c), items deemed to be “military equipment” include, but are not <br />limited to: unmanned aerial or ground vehicles, armored vehicles, command and control vehicles, <br />pepper balls and launchers, less lethal shotguns, less lethal 40mm projectile launchers, chemical irritants <br />(CS gas) and diversionary devices. With the exception of patrol rifles, the less lethal 40mm launchers <br />firing sponge baton rounds, and the Tahoe command and control vehicle, RCPD’s military equipment is <br />used exclusively by members of the Redwood City Special Response Team (SRT) in controlled operations <br />under close command staff supervisor and subject to strict use of force and de-escalation policies. The <br />full military equipment inventory list can be found on the Department’s web page using the link <br />referenced above. <br />The Department is authorized to deploy the following types of equipment described in the statutorily <br />defined categories. These include: <br />Agency Owned Equipment and Equipment Authorized to Use (Owned by other Public <br />Safety Agencies) <br />1.Specialized firearms and ammunition of less than .50 caliber, including assault weapons <br />as defined in Sections 30510 and 30515 of the Penal Code <br />•4 Colt LE6945 semi-automatic 5.56mm rifles <br />•15 Colt M4 select fire 5.56mm rifles <br />•23 H&K MP5 select fire 9mm submachine guns <br />•88 semi-automatic 5.56mm patrol rifles, various makes and models (75 Colt <br />LE6920, 9 Daniel Defense DCM4, 1 LWRC M6IC, 1 Noveske N4, 1 BCM BCM4, 1 <br />S&W MP15). <br />•2 Accuracy International bolt action .308 Caliber precision rifles <br />•1 Remington bolt action .308 Caliber precision rifle <br />2.Mobile Command Vehicles (MCV) <br />•1 Workhorse / Mattman Truck – Equipment Transport <br />•1 2015 Chevy Tahoe Command Vehicle <br />9.A. - Page 17 of 197 <br />374
