Purpose/Authorized Uses: The use of the Armored Rescue Vehicle is to assist with the <br />preservation of life and enhance the safety of community members and first responders. The <br />ARV should be deployed in situations where its use would enhance the tactical advantage of <br />officers, aid in the rescue of injured persons, protect life and property, or improve the <br />likelihood that an incident would be resolved without the use of deadly force or other force <br />options. The Armored Rescue Vehicle is primarily used for RCPD Special Response Team <br />(SRT) incidents, safe transport of SRT personnel to and from critical incidents, high-risk <br />warrant service operations, training, delivery of emergency medical staff and/or Tactical <br />Emergency Medicine Support (TEMS) personnel, delivery of equipment, and other rescue <br />capabilities. The Armored Rescue Vehicle will not be used in the public for community <br />engagement events, unless specifically authorized by the Chief of Police. <br />Fiscal Impacts: <br />Initial cost: $329,913. Annual maintenance cost of approximately $5,000.
