From:Jim Hartnett
To:GRP-City Council
Subject:Agenda item 8 A--Stanford Cancer Center
Date:Friday, April 10, 2026 7:41:00 AM
Dear Council Members: I write to support the staff recommendation to move forward
with the necessary studies to support a potential change to the General Plan and the
Stanford Redwood City Precise Plan that could lead to the creation of a world class
Cancer Center on Stanford property in Redwood City that is consistent with the City's
Strategic Plan Guiding Principle: Economic Vitality and Healthy Community.
Stanford's "Community First Engagement" approach has once again demonstrated
that it is a transparent and valued community partner. I was on the City Council when
Stanford first approached the council and community about "coming to Redwood City"
so have a deep history of their outreach approach and how they listen to the
community. That "listening" and outreach will continue and increase should you
adopt the staff recommendation.
Thank you all for your dedication and commitment.
Best wishes,
Jim Hartnett
