From:Florence Ortiz
To:GRP-City Council
Subject:[CAUTION: SUSPECT SENDER] 4/13/26 - 8.A Public Comment – Stanford Medicine Cancer Center
Date:Monday, April 13, 2026 2:24:04 PM
Dear Mayor and City Council Members,
I am writing in support of initiating the proposed General Plan and Precise Plan amendments
for the Stanford Medicine Cancer Center project.
I serve as the Executive Director of the Redwood City Education Foundation and a board
member of Casa Círculo Cultural. Through this work, I stay closely connected to children,
youth, and families across Redwood City and North Fair Oaks, including those who face the
greatest barriers to resources and opportunities.
I also participate in Stanford Health Care’s Community Advisory Group, where I have seen
firsthand their approach to engaging the community with intention, openness, and willingness
to listen. It has been a thoughtful process that invites real input from residents.
What stands out to me most is the opportunity this project creates beyond clinical services.
The potential to create spaces for education, workshops, and connection feels especially
meaningful. Providing spaces where families can learn, ask questions, and build understanding
is important for overall well-being.
In alignment with Redwood City’s priorities for community well-being and inclusion, this
project has the potential to positively shape health outcomes, which depend on access,
information, and trusted connections.
I encourage you to move forward with initiating this process so it can continue to be shaped
with community input.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Florence Ortiz
