Purchasing <br />police patrol vehicles was paused for fiscal year (FY) 2024-25 to allow staff to evaluate the effectiveness <br />of implementing hybrid technology in patrol operations. Through its research, staff identified gas powered <br />patrol vehicles are currently the best equipped to meet operational demands and safety concerns. The <br />proposed purchase will allow staff to continue with its replacement schedule without incurring additional <br />costs for fleet replacement that would be triggered by delaying another fiscal year. Staff will continue to <br />procure alternative fuel vehicles in administrative, community service, and investigative functions <br />whenever possible and to monitor changes in technology that may aid the future adoption of electric or <br />hybrid vehicles in patrol functions. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager or their designee to execute the purchase of six Ford <br />Police Interceptor Utility vehicles in the total amount of $366,488 from Towne Motor Company dba <br />Towne Ford Sales of Redwood City, CA. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />7.E. - Page 1 of 19 <br />103
