From:Jim Hartnett
To:GRP-City Council
Cc:MGR-Patrick Heisinger
Subject:June 8, 2026 Agenda Item 8 a
Date:Friday, June 5, 2026 3:36:46 PM
Dear Mr. Mayor and Council Members:
As to the rent control measure, I recommend:
1. The item be placed on the November 2026 ballot for the electorate to decide:
2. Further study of the complexities and impacts beyond that in the existing 9212
report be promptly studied and reported on; and,
3. Further study and consideration of the actual ballot question be undertaken and
decided upon at a subsequent council meeting.
I believe the impacts of the ordinance have not been fully studied and the council and
community could benefit from additional analysis. The ballot question seems to be to
be too stark, and the electorate could benefit from a more fulsome articulation.
Thank you to each and every one of you for all that you do for our great community. I
appreciate all the time, effort and diligence that you devote to your duties.
Best to each of you,
Jim Hartnett
650 400 3856
