By motion, accept certification of signature verification for an initiative <br />to impose additional rent control and just cause eviction limits in <br />Redwood City; and <br />2. Receive the Elections Code Section 9212 Report on impacts of the <br />Proposed Ordinance (Attachment F); and <br />3. Pursuant to Elections Code Section 9215 take either of the following <br />actions: <br />a. Adopt, without alteration, the Proposed Ordinance (Attachment <br />A); or <br />b. Adopt a resolution calling for an election to be consolidated with <br />the Statewide General Election on November 3, 2026, for the <br />purpose of submitting to the voters an initiative measure to <br />amend the Redwood City Code to impose additional rent control <br />and just cause eviction limits. (Attachment E) <br /> <br /> CEQA: <br />This is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) <br /> <br />Motion and second, Gee and Howard, to: <br />1. Accept certification of signature verification for an initiative to impose <br />additional rent control and just cause eviction limits in Redwood City; and <br />2. Continue this item to a date certain, to be determined by the Mayor and <br />Vice Mayor within the Elections Code provisions, to receive a supplemental <br />9212 report that provides information regarding the cumulative impacts of <br />rent control, tenant protections, and burden on landlords of all regulations <br />with the City, as well as impacts on non-profit affordable housing partners <br />and reconciling impacts on the City’s general fund to the extent possible. <br /> The motion passed 6-0-1 by electronic vote, with Council Member Chu <br />absent. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
