SECTION 3. SAN JOSE POLICE ACADEMY SCHEDULE. <br />The five REDWOOD CITY Police Recruits will attend the San Jose Police Academy on <br />dates that are mutually agreed to in writing by CITY and REDWOOD CITY. <br />SECTION 4. COMPENSATION. <br />REDWOOD CITY shall pay the CITY $4,937 per police recruit for a maximum total <br />compensation of TWENTY-FOUR THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED EIGHTY-FIVE <br />DOLLARS ($24,685.00). The Police Recruit fee will be collected based on who is present <br />at the start of the first day of the San Jose Police SJ56 Academy beginning on June 22, <br />2026. The fee will not be returned if the recruit resigns or leaves the academy, and no <br />substitutions can be made. <br />SECTION 5. RELATIONSHIP OF PARTIES. <br />A. It is understood and agreed that REDWOOD CITY, in the performance of this <br />AGREEMENT, shall not act nor is it at any time authorized to act, as the agent or <br />representative of CITY in any matter. REDWOOD CITY further agrees that it will <br />not in any manner hold itself out as the agent or representative of CITY or act in <br />such a fashion as would give the impression to a reasonable person that <br />REDWOOD CITY is acting in such a capacity. <br />B. The Parties agree that REDWOOD CITY and REDWOOD CITY employees, in the <br />performance of this AGREEMENT, shall be at all times agents or employees of <br />REDWOOD CITY and not agents or employees of the CITY, and that REDWOOD <br />CITY and REDWOOD CITY employees shall not be entitled to any salary, fringe <br />benefits, pension, Workers' Compensation, sick leave, insurance or any other <br />benefit or right connected with employment by the CITY, or any compensation <br />other than as prescribed herein, and REDWOOD CITY and REDWOOD CITY <br />employees expressly waive any claim it/they may have to any such rights. <br />REV: 05-29-26 MI <br />ATN/AGR.2026.134/City of San Jose (San Jose Academy Agreement) (Page 2 of 9) <br />
