Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: July 27, 2026 <br />SUBJECT <br />Levy of benefit assessments for the tax roll year 2026-2027 for the Redwood Shores Landscape Maintenance <br />District 1995-1 <br />SUMMARY <br />Since 1998, the City has levied annual property assessments against properties in the Redwood Shores <br />Landscape Maintenance District 1995-1 for landscape maintenance greater than regularly required. <br />Formation of the assessment district was approved in 1997 by 89.4 percent of property owners. The total <br />annual assessment levied may increase up to 3.5 percent annually. The total 2026-2027 assessment would <br />be $309,793, within the 3.5 percent maximum increase allowed. The County of San Mateo assesses <br />properties this levy on behalf of the City. The County requires the City to approve a resolution annually <br />that approves the total amount of the levy and authorizes the County to levy the assessments. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution requesting and authorizing the County Controller to levy benefit assessments for the <br />Redwood Shores Landscape Maintenance District No. 1995-1 in the amount of $309,793 and authorizing the <br />County Tax Collector to collect such assessments for the tax roll year 2026-2027. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Redwood Shores Landscape Maintenance District No. 1995-1 (District) was established in December <br />1995.
