<br />5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY <br /> <br />A. Water Conservation Poster Contest Winners - Justin Ezell, Public Works <br />Superintendent <br /> <br />Justin Ezell, Public Works Superintendent, gave an overview of the process leading to the <br />creation of the 2010 calendar. He introduced their special guest H20 the water drop and <br />shared a presentation of the winning posters. Various participant children were presented <br />with certificates of recognition (presentation on file). The Council came down from the dais <br />to recognize the schools that participated, the children and the parents present. <br /> <br />B. Presentation: Storm Preparedness - Larry Barwacz, Public Works Director <br /> <br />Marilyn Harang, Public Works Superintendent provided an overview of what this <br />department does regarding storm preparedness. She gave details on staffing levels and <br />provided statistics. The Council thanked Mr. Barwacz and Ms. Harang for the timely <br />presentation (presentation on file). <br /> <br />6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Bruce Hamilton, Executive Director of HIP Housing, commented on how children represent <br />hope for the future. He provided copies of their annual 2010 calendar for City Council and <br />staff and asked that it be displayed in a prominent area. <br /> <br />MOTION: Waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, adopt <br />the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. <br /> <br />M/S Bain/Aguirre to approve all the items on the Consent Calendar except 6.1 B which was <br />pulled. Motion carried unanimously by electronic vote. <br /> <br />Item 6.1 B was pulled and Vice Mayor Aguirre said she wanted to give the Finance <br />Department credit for winning multiple awards year after year. <br />M/S Foust/Pierce to approve agenda item 6.1 B. Motion carried unanimously by <br />electronic vote. <br /> <br />6.1 Section - Motions <br /> <br />A. Approve the Regular City Council meeting minutes of December 7, 2009 as <br />submitted. MINUTE-ORDER 09-267 <br /> <br />B.
