<br />REPORT <br /> <br />6.2A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Ci Manaer <br /> <br />February 8, 2010 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance - Roosevelt and Valota Area Watermain Replacement Project <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept, by motion, the Roosevelt and Valota Area Watermain Replacement Project and <br />authorize the release of bonds and retention according to city procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On August 3, 2009, Council awarded the construction contract for the Roosevelt and <br />Valota Area Watermain Replacement project to West Valley Construction Company, <br />Inc. of San Jose. The project was awarded for the low bid amount of $1,056,611.00. <br />Construction began that same month. The project is successfully completed in <br />accordance with the plans and specifications. Two (2) change orders totaling <br />$8,989.00 were issued. The final contract amount is $1,065,600.00, and .85% more <br />than the contract amount originally awarded. Change orders resulted from quantity <br />adjustments. <br /> <br />Each year the city plans and designs a watermain replacement project as part of the <br />Capital Improvement Program. This year's project included the replacement of <br />approximately 5,500 feet of water pipeline at various locations along Roosevelt Avenue, <br />Valota Road, Fairview Avenue, Redwood Avenue, and Ruby Street.
