As part of his proposal, the President committed to <br />working with Congress to pass a comprehensive Job creation program. The U.S. House of <br />Representatives in December passed the Jobs for Main Street Act of 2010. Much needed funding <br />for Infrastructure is included in the measure's provision extending the federal transportation <br />program and restoring $20 billion to the Highway Trust Fund. The President is currenUy working <br />with congressional leaders to develop a final agreement. For more, see Page 2. <br /> <br />.................................... <br /> <br />PENINSULA DIVISION HAS RECORD SETTING SIGNATURE SATURDAY <br />Volunteers Collect 700 Signatures <br /> <br />The effort to qualify the Local Taxpayer, Public Safety and Transportation Protection Act of 2010, <br />hit a grand slam on Saturday, Jan. 30, as volunteers in 14 cities in the League's Peninsula <br />Division kicked off the first of three "Signature Saturdays: All totaled, more than 700 signatures <br />were collected by city officials and community members. For more, see Page 3. <br /> <br />.................................... <br /> <br />CAMPAIGN TO PROTECT LOCAL GOVERNMENT, TRANSPORTATION AND <br />TRANSIT REVENUE MOVES FULL STEAM AHEAD <br /> <br />The last few weeks have been extremely busy for Cafifomians to Protect Local Taxpayers and <br />Vital Services, the coalition which is working to qualify the Local Taxpayer, Public Safety and <br />Transportation Protection Act of 2010. Last week alone, close to 74,000 signatures were <br />gathered, bringing the campaign total to approximately 300,000. For more, see Page 4. <br />
