Route <br />direction (increasing milepost direction) for all network routes will be <br />determined in accordance with Federal Highway Administration Guidelines. <br /> <br />~ The common rule employed for milepost direction is the Federal Function <br />Class (FFC). The FFC denotes milepost values increasing from the southwest <br />to the northeast. Rule, specific assignment, or a combination of both will <br />solve special circumstances. Specific examples of special circumstances are <br />addressed in the following section. <br /> <br />a Overlaps - In cases where a route jogs and then resumes at another <br />location on the intersecting route, milepost values will not accrue <br />through the overlap area. <br /> <br />a Gaps - Milepost values will not accrue through a permanent physical <br />discontinuity. The milepost value, at the start of a gap, will be the <br />same value referenced when the route resumes. <br /> <br />a Divided Routes - If divided routes are represented as two centerlines <br />the mileposts will increase in the proper increasing milepost direction. <br />If one centerline is represented then it will increase in the proper <br />milepost direction and all assets will be attributed to the single line. <br /> <br />a Inlets ("Eyebrows") and Turn Lanes - Centerlines not considered as a <br />divided route, but existing to represent inlets to housing groups, <br />entrances to building complexes, or turn lanes will not be used as part <br />of the LRS. The main thoroughfare with which they share Route Name <br />and / or Route ID will be the line segments used to assign milepost <br />and offset values. <br /> <br />Transmap will create a Linear Referencing System from the network route centerline <br />basemap. The LRS is created by using the arc attributes' route number and surface <br />length values. Arc segments are grouped into routes and surface length values are <br />accumulated in the section table to give a total length to each route. The route <br />system is then edited to define the travel direction of each route by identifying the <br />beginning arc segment. All routes shall be defined as beginning at the western or <br />southern most end segments and travel in easterly or northerly directions. Once the <br />route system is complete, point and linear features can be associated to the route <br />system by their route name and / or number. Milepost values and distance offsets <br />from the centerline will be assigned to each subsequently captured asset feature. <br /> <br />Deliverable <br /> <br /> <br />A Geodatabase of the linear referencing system layer <br />will be delivered. <br /> <br />Asset Management Data Collection <br /> <br />Point Asset Creation <br />Point features within the City of Redwood City, California will be extracted from the <br />imagery by Transmap. Information regarding point features is described below. <br />~ Point Assets <br />Point features are measured as discrete features, identified by X, Y and Z <br />coordinates.
