<br />1.\ <br /> <br />:RESOLUTION <br />----------- <br /> <br />,",C7.1.' <br />.E. ..\ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the basic need in our Nation today is the preser- <br />vatIon of Constitutional Govermnent; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to protect our priceless heritage under <br />our unique fONU of gover~ment, it is essential to support our <br />Constitution, "The most wonderful work ever struck off at a given <br />time by the brain and purpose of man"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, for its proper support, it is necessary that our <br />citizens understand its provisions and principles and appreciate <br />its values and benefits as "The greatest document for human liberty <br /> <br />c" <br /> <br />in two thousand years of recorded history"; and <br /> <br />~~EREAS, the Daughters of the ~merican Revolution are sponsoring <br /> <br /> <br />the observance of Constitution Week September 17-23, 1956, in <br /> <br /> <br />commemoration of the 169th anniversary of the adoption of the <br /> <br />Constitution; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the <br /> <br />City of Redwood City in the state of California do hereby proclaim <br /> <br /> <br />the weel;:: of September 17 to 23, 1956, as CONSTITUTION WEEK, and urge <br /> <br />all of our cl tizens to pay special attention during that week to o~' <br /> <br />Federal Constitution and the advantages of American aitizenship, fly- <br /> <br />lng United states Flags at their businesses and homes and especially <br />emphasizing the purposes of Good Goverrunent as set forth in the Con- <br />stitution's Preamble and the duty of all persons in our Republlc to <br /> <br />protect our Constitution and the freedoms in its Bill of Rights, so <br />that it may continue to protect us and our posterity in "This Nation <br /> <br />under God". <br />
