<br />REPORT <br /> <br />78 <br />age 1 <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Ci Mana er <br /> <br />March 8, 2010 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Dates for City Council Consideration of the Fiscal Year 2010-11-12 Budget <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the dates for City Council action on the budget. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />Sections 51 and 51.5 of the Redwood City Charter require that the City Council establish <br />the date of the budget presentation by the City Manager, and, by resolution, the date for <br />budget public hearing and budget adoption. <br /> <br />A resolution setting the public hearing and the date for the budget adoption will be <br />submitted prior to the budget being submitted to Council. The purpose of the action before <br />you at tonight's meeting is to formalize your approval of the following dates upon which <br />budget related actions will occur: <br /> <br />Budget Sent to Council: <br /> <br />June 3, 2010 <br /> <br />City Council Budget: Study Session #1 <br />Study Session #2 <br />Study Session #3 (if needed) <br /> <br />June 21, 2010 <br />June 28, 2010 <br />June 30, 2010 <br /> <br />Budget Adoption and Public Hearing <br /> <br />July 12, 2010 <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVE <br />Although the City Charter requires that the Council, by motion, establish a date upon which <br />the ".. . City Manager shall submit to the Council a proposed budget. ..," it is nonetheless the <br />Council's prerogative to select the date that they believe is most appropriate. Accordingly, <br />the dates provided in this report are those dates recommended by the City Manager and <br />m:t!....;~t Council's discretion. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Brian J.
