City Attorney Schricker stated that if the Council chose to reject all bids, <br /> future bidders might be influenced by those actions and choose not to waste their <br /> time bidding. Additionally there were no guarantees as to how competitive the <br /> second bids would be once everyone knew the other's bids. City Attorney <br /> Schricker posed the question, "What does this do for the reputation of the City <br /> in the bidding sector?" <br /> <br /> Council Members discussed the $12,000 difference between the lowest two <br /> bids, grants the City had received for this project, the cost of rebidding and the <br /> possible 2-month delay a rebidding process would cause, and Councilman Claire <br /> added that the City tried this before and was sued. <br /> <br /> CONSENSUS: Mayor Hartnett determined it to be the consensus of the <br /> Council to postpone a decision on this matter until the next Council meeting. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
