CONFLICT MANAGEMENT PROCESS

Step 1: Direct problem solving between involved parties
When YFES staff or other Prevention Partnership members recognize that an interpersonal
conflict exists, they should take steps to address the concern directly with the other
person/persons involved and try to work out a mutually acceptable resolution. If the attempt to
work directly with the other person does not result in a satisfactory resolution, the following
steps are recommended.

Step 2: Problem solving with Wellness Manager andl or RWC 2020
Staff members should bring all issues of concern to the attention of their direct supervisor for
initial discussion and problem solving. If the staff member is an employee of YFES, the
supervisor should notify the Wellness Manager of the existence of these issues of concern and
the steps being taken to resolve them. If resolution is not reached, agency leadership should be
involved.

Step 3: Involvement of agency Directors
If these previous steps do not result in the resolution of concerns, RWC 2020's Executive
Director and the Executive Director of YFES should work together with involved staff members
to address and resolve the problem.

If the prior steps do not result in the resolution of concerns, San Mateo County BHRS staff will
be available for support. At any time in this process, any involved party should feel free to
request the involvement of a neutral third party to facilitate communication and problem solving.
YFES and/or RWC 2020 will provide staff members with information about how to access the
services of a neutral third party.

ACCOUNTABILITY

RWC 2020 and YFES will meet with the appropriate staff at the beginning of the project to
establish a work plan for Prevention Partnership related services. This work plan will include
YFES reporting and data collection responsibilities for the year. RWC 2020 and/or the
Community Wellness Manager and YFES will meet on a quarterly basis to review the work
plan, address changes, resolve problems and address any professional development/training
needs for the community.

During the term of this contract, RWC 2020/Community Wellness Manager will conduct site
visits to observe activities/events as appropriate.

PAYMENTS:
YFES will submit to Redwood City 2020 a detailed invoice for payment by May 1, 2010 for
$20,000 for specified services, to support the community-based AOD prevention effort.
See Attachment A.

RWC 2020 will approve the invoice within ten (10) business days after the invoice is received or,
if there are questions or concerns, notify YFES within that period.

Agreement over $1 OK 11
City Attorney Approved Version 012710
