Redwood City's Community Climate AcGon Plan is a call for the community to join tagether in our climate protection effarts.The Plan encourages and provides tools far residents and local business to take a rea/leadership role,tagether with the City,to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and curb the impacts af global warming.It's only through such a partnership that progress can be made-from single-famify-homes to apartment buildings;from individua!blocks ta entire neighborhoods; and from large and small businesses to Redwaod City's municipal operation.Together,with the full participation and involvement of all secfiors of the community, we can achieve positive cornmunity action vn climate change. The City offers resources,programs,tools and education to support community action. Communitjr resources inform residents about the everyday actions that peopEe throughaut our community can use to do their part.Everyday actions incfude simp{e things like turning off lights when leaving a room,hanging clothes to air dry instead of using a dryer,weatherizing homes f�r irnproved energy efficiency,using fuel efFicient transportation,shopping locally,and walking when possible. Businesses are encouraged tio participate by introducing energy efficiency,water conservation, �nd waste reductions measures,and by providing transporta�ion altematives for their employees—climate protection actions that also result in cflst savings. The City recognizes that it's crucial to lead by example,which it does by focusing an sustainab4e land use pattems,transportation demand management,energy ef�ciency,green building,and waste diversion. The efFarts of these three key partners in the P1an—residents, businesses, and t�e City-wifl be closely manitored.An annuai progress repart will be made to the community and municipal leaders,highlighting the Plan's successes,noting the fessons learned,and ofFering recommendatians for modifying the Plan where necessary for maximum benefit.
