7A <br /> Page 34 <br /> DRAFT-Will be updated and provided in color for March 22"d Council meeting <br /> private developmer�t and major renovatian projects.Through the green building ordinance,the <br /> City will also encaurage salvaging and rec.ycling material from building demolitian and the use <br /> of recyded building materials in new construction. <br /> Implementation of the Green Bui�ding Ordinance will include the following level of certification <br /> and thresholds: <br /> • Build it Green,50"Green Points"far al1 residentia�pro}ect types with a threshald of 1,d00 <br /> square foot additions,new homes or any new multi-family development. <br /> • LEEDI'Certification Non-Residential Projects(including Hotels and Motels),with a threshold <br /> for non-residential is over 3,000 square feet. <br /> To support Green Building implementation,the City will assess and provide ongoing training for <br /> zoning and building permifi staff to enable them to be knowledgeable about latest green <br /> building techniques.It is recommended that training be update�regularly to reflect changes in <br /> building technologies and techniques. <br /> Additianal actions incfude: <br /> a. Inc�ease green building throughout the region by sharing best practices with other <br /> area cities through such entities as]aint Venture Silicon Valley and the Green <br /> Buildi�g Public Agency Council. <br /> b. Showcase innovative green building techniques in the community. <br /> c. Hast water conservation and green building educational workshops in the community <br /> d.
