The total projected costs are slightly <br />more than $400 million (with cost inflation) over the next 1 O-year period. Redwood City's <br />estimated share of these costs during the first five years of the program is $90 million. <br /> <br />In consideration of the proposed sewer rate increase, staff initiated the following public <br />notification activities: <br />· Mailed approximately 26,000 notices of the increase according to the Proposition 218 <br />notification process on February 25, 2010 to property owners <br />· Explained the proposed sewer rate increase in the City's conservation newsletter sent <br />to customers in the utility billing <br />· Posted all of the above information on the City's website <br />· Place a public notice in the local newspaper on March 26, 2010 informing residents of <br />this public hearing to consider the rate change <br /> <br />To date, the City received six protest letters opposing the sewer service charge <br />increases. <br />
