<br />8C <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />2010-12 were mailed to all parcel property owners, together with information regarding <br />the date, time, and location of the April 12, 2010 public hearing. During the period of <br />February 24, 2010 through April 12, 2010, several written protest letters (<0.01 % of <br />parcel property owners) were received which voiced concern over the proposed rate <br />increases. According to the requirements of Proposition 218, the City must receive <br />protests from more than 500/0 of parcel owners to negate the proposed rate increase. <br /> <br />The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and the Board of Supervisors are <br />expected to adopt a 15.20k increase in wholesale water rates effective July 1, 2010. <br />This will increase the wholesale cost of potable water from the San Francisco Regional <br />Water System from $1.65 to $1.90 per unit (One unit = 748 gallons). In summary, the <br />City Council Utilities Committee and staff recommendation for Council consideration is: <br /> <br />1. Increase monthly residential Basic Service Charge from $16.53 to $18.02, effective <br />July 1, 2010, and from $18.02 to $19.64, effective July 1, 2011. <br />2. Increase monthly non-residential Basic Service Charges for larger meters by the <br />same percentage as 5/8" meter increase (90/0), effective July 1,2010 and 2011. <br />5.
