The Commissions also recognize the connection of this st~~g:n~ <br />the future replacement of the Veterans Memorial Senior Center to Council's Core Services <br />Areas of Public Infrastructure (building and maintaining great community spaces), and <br />Public Safety (providing critical support services and programs). <br /> <br />I <br />t . <br />I <br />, <br /> <br />This is the first major milestone in a process that we know is quite involved with many <br />challenges ahead. The immediate next steps include: <br /> <br />1. Conduct Site Analysis (Consider site alternatives including Red Morton Park, <br />Downtown, and any other opportunities) <br /> <br />2. Determine Magnitude of Cost Estimates (program elements including the pool <br />feature) <br /> <br />3. Develop a Funding Strategy Plan (conduct extensive analysis on public, quasi- <br />public, corporate, non-profit, foundation, and other funding resources) <br /> <br />4. Present Shared-Use and Partnership Opportunities (for long term sustainability) <br /> <br />5. Determine Life Expectancy of Existing Facilities (know timeline that we need to <br />have a new building based on deferred maintenance issues) <br /> <br />6. Propose a transition plan to sustain current VMSC programs and services during <br />the future construction phase <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />This presentation is information only. However, Council may choose to give specific <br />direction to Staff, the SAC and the PRCS Commission which may include: <br />1. Add and/or alter proposed next steps <br />2. Delay analysis <br />3. Request additional information <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />The Fiscal Year 2009-10 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funded the Scoping Study <br />in the amount of $35,750.
