<br />--- <br /> <br />6.18 <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Cit Mana er <br /> <br />April 26, 2010 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />License agreement with the College of Adaptive Arts (CAA) <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve by motion and authorize the City Manager to execute the license agreement with the <br />College of Adaptive Arts for use of office and program space at the Veterans Memorial Senior <br />Center. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The College of Adaptive Arts (CAA) offers certificate, diploma and community action <br />programs in the performing and visual arts to adults with disabilities. CAA Students gain <br />skills in performing and visual arts; participate in individualized academic and artistic <br />programs; participate in personal and social exchanges with peers of differing abilities; and <br />build a foundation for future work and volunteer opportunities. <br /> <br />Staff was approached by the CM to develop a new partnership with the Redwood City <br />community, and to open up more opportunities for adults with disabilities on the Peninsula. <br />The CAA would use classroom space for expressive arts; music video editing; film festival <br />preparation; and special performances for students. Additionally, they would use one vacant <br />office for a CM staff member. <br /> <br />This partnership would provide a new opportunity for the VMSC to attract volunteers; develop <br />new programming for our special needs students; and provide an additional source of <br />revenue. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Not approve the License Agreement. <br /> <br /> <br />ptive Arts will pay the City a license fee of $800 a month. <br /> <br />
