<br />6.2B <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Ci Mana er <br /> <br />April 26, 2010 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance - Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Phase I - Redwood <br />Shores Customer Site Retrofits - Bid Package 3 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept, by motion, the Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Phase I - Redwood <br />Shores Customer Site Retrofits - Bid Package 3 Project, and authorize the release of <br />bonds and retention according to the city's procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 22, 2009, the Council approved the contract documents and awarded the <br />contract for the Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Phase I - Redwood Shores <br />Customer Site Retrofits - Bid Package 3 Project to the lowest responsive and <br />responsible bidder, ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance, Inc. of San Jose, California for <br />their low bid of $211,483.00. <br /> <br />This customer site retrofit project is the third retrofit project to extend the delivery of <br />recycled water to new commercial irrigation and city roadway landscape customers in <br />Redwood Shores. The work of this project converted existing irrigation systems from <br />potable water to recycled water. <br /> <br />The Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Phase I - Redwood Shores Customer Site <br />Retrofits - Bid Package 3 Project has been successfully completed in accordance with <br />the plans and specifications for a total cost of $249,344.22. On November 30, 2009, <br />Council approved additional funding for the construction contract of up to 200/0 of the <br />original awarded amount. Two (2) change orders were issued totaling $37,861.22, <br />which is 180/0 more than the contract amount originally awarded. These changes <br />included: <br />1. Adding and retrofitting irrigation sites at Harbor Court subdivision, and <br />2. Additional work due to unforeseeable site conditions encountered after excavation at <br />the West Port Office Park complex. <br /> <br />AL TERNA TIVES <br />Council may choose not to. accept the project, or authorize the release of bonds and <br />retention which would be contrary to the terms of the agreement and prior Council <br />action. <br />
