04/26/2010 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15017 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING RECORD RETENTION SCHEDULE AND <br />AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT HEAD IN POSSESSION OF <br />RECORDS TO DESTROY CERTAIN PUBLIC RECORDS IN <br />ACCORDANCE THEREWITH <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 34090, the head of a city <br />department, with approval of the City Council by resolution and upon written consent <br />of the City Attorney, may destroy any city record under such department head's <br />charge, after the record is no longer required; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Clerk on behalf of the Clerk's Office and City <br />Departments, has presented to the City Attorney and to this Council for approval, a <br />proposed schedule for retention and destruction of certain categories of public <br />records, and has requested approval to destroy certain public records in accordance <br />therewith; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Attorney has reviewed the proposed record retention <br />schedule and has consented in writing to said request. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The retention and destruction schedule entitled, "Redwood City <br />Records Management Program April 2010 ", a copy of which is attached hereto, <br />marked Exhibit "A" and is incorporated herein by reference, is hereby approved, and <br />the City Clerk or department head in possession of the records is hereby authorized <br />to destroy the designated public records in accordance therewith. <br />2. The City Clerk and Department heads in possession of public records <br />may destroy such hard copy records at any time without meeting the retention time <br />periods set forth in Exhibit A if the Government Code Section 34090.5 requirements <br />for making permanent copies, e.g. digital, microfilm, are met. <br />3.
