The project includes replacement and associated improvements to the existing <br /> small craft launching facility located between Wharf 4 and a Public Access Area(See Figure 2: Site <br /> Location)on the east side of Redwood Creek Channel. The facility includes a concrete boat ramp for <br /> launching trailered boats and an adjacent pier,gangway and floating dock for access and short term <br /> mooring of boats that use the facility. <br /> This facility is for the use of the Port of Redwood City,US Geological Survey(USGS)and Sea Scouts, <br /> and is not a public ramp.The nearest public ramp is located within'/2 mile to the south of the project,near <br /> the Marina. In addition to the Port's vessels,agencies that will utilize the facility include mutual aid <br /> partners such as the Redwood City Police Department,Redwood City Fire Department, San Mateo <br /> County Sheriff,United States Coast Guard,and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.The structure <br /> will serve as the South Bay's primary waterside law enforcement facility for security and emergency- <br /> response operations. <br /> Surroundine Land Uses: <br /> The project site is located along the open water of the Redwood Creek navigational channel,along the <br /> eastern edge of the channel.Wharves 3 and 4 are north of the site;a small public access area is adjacent to <br /> Port of Redwood City Multi-Agency Maritime Facility 1 February 2010 <br /> Initial Study <br />
